FAQs

General Questions

You’ll save time by getting matched directly with agencies that are seeking court-mandated volunteers. Matches are based on your offenses and location. Plus, your printed timesheet will help you log your hours all in one place.

To register, you’ll need: a) Court Papers or Probation Referral Form from your officer, b) a form of payment (credit or debit card to pay online, cash or money to pay in person), c) access to a printer, and d) a valid email address.

Your fee covers the administrative cost of referrals to approved work locations as well as verifying and reporting your completed hours. VolunteerNow ensures you have the options you need to complete your hours and that they’re tracked and counted in the ways courts require.

Fees are $58 for probation and $43 for municipal courts. You can pay by cash, debit, credit card, or money order.
Please note: If you try to register more than once, you will be charged each time. Contact our office for new referrals or to change any personal information.

Refunds must be requested within 90 days of applying. Refunds are only granted in special circumstances and are considered on a case-by-case basis.

When you register, you will enter your zip code and can select up to 5 agencies in your area. After you finish registering, VolunteerNow™ will refer you to approved locations where you will complete your service hours. Your approved locations will be listed under Referrals on your printed timesheet.

Please note that you will only receive work credit for hours worked at the approved locations you’ve been referred to on your timesheet.

VolyService is for people seeking to fulfill court-ordered volunteer work to satisfy the following conditions: Probation, Memo of Agreement, Municipal Court Violation, or Conditional Dismissal.

We can help you register in person! Our office is open for walk-ins Monday through Thursday, 9am–12:30pm and 1:30–5pm. We are also open on the first Saturday of each month, 9am–Noon.

Please bring your referral form or court papers, along with a fee payment ($58 fee for probation, $43 fee for municipal courts, payable by cash, debit, credit card, or money order).

VolyService office hours are Monday through Thursday, 9am–12:30pm and 1:30–5pm.

Working and tracking hours

Congratulations! Be sure to print your timesheet. On your timesheet, you’ll find approved locations where you can work and their contact information. It is your responsibility to contact the locations to find out when you can start working. If you do not have access to a printer, you can come to our office and we will print a timesheet for you.

Take your timesheet with you every time you work. Log the date, time, and total hours worked each day, and make sure an agency representative signs your timesheet after each day so you receive credit for hours worked.

After logging into your account, find your timesheet on the right side of your dashboard. Be sure to print it and bring it with you every time you work.

To receive credit for hours worked, you must work at the approved locations on your timesheet, as these are the locations where you’ve been referred to by VolyService.

You can go to the approved location to speak to someone in person regarding available volunteer opportunities.

If you’re unable to work at the approved locations on your timesheet, you can be reassigned to a new location. To request a reassignment, call 214-821-8711 or email ydavalos@volnow.org.

Yes, you can work at any of the approved locations on your timesheet.

Congratulations! Please send a clear photo of your entire timesheet to ydavalos@volnow.org. Alternatively, you can bring it in person or mail it to 2800 Live Oak Street, Dallas, TX 75204. (Please make a copy for your own records if you choose to send it by mail.)

Make sure your timesheet is fully complete, including a) location names where you worked and b) signatures from an agency representative for each day.

Write the name of your probation officer on the timesheet so we can send them a completion letter. If you do not include the name of a probation office, you can request your completion letter by email or by coming in person to the office (open Monday through Thursday, 9am–12:30pm and 1:30–5pm).

Lastly, fill out your post-program survey. Keep an eye out for your final survey that will be sent to you 90–120 days later.

We can only accept hours worked for service hours.
